Profile

Adj Assoc Prof David Low is a graduate from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He was conferred his medical degree (MBBCh) in 2000 and returned back to Singapore for his post graduate basic surgical training. He completed his basic surgical training in 2004 where he obtained his membership in General Surgery conferred by the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (MRCS Ed). During this time he also completed his Master of Medicine in Surgery (MMed) conferred by the National University of Singapore.

Adj Assoc Prof Low went on to pursue his interest in Neurosurgery and did his advanced surgical training at the National Neuroscience Institute (Singapore) where he worked at the Singapore General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. He completed his neurosurgical training and was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (FRCS). He was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Health (MOH) Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) in 2010 and went for a 1-year fellowship in Paediatric Neurosurgery at the renowned Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada in 2011.

Adj Assoc Prof Low was appointed as the Programme Director for the SingHealth Neurosurgical Residency Programme from 2013 to 2019 where he was involved in the development of the education program and training of residents in neurosurgery. He also served as the Head of Neurosurgical Service at KKH from 2015 to 2019.

Adj Assoc Prof Lof served as the Head of Department, Neurosurgery at National Neuroscience Institute (NNI@TTSH) from July 2019 to June 2023.

He is currently appointed the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Clinical) and Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs and Development for the SingHealth Duke-NUS Neuroscience Academic Clinical Program.

Adj Assoc Prof Low’s subspecialty interest is in adult and paediatric brain tumours, epilepsy surgery and hydrocephalus.
