Medical News Road to recovery: Elderly woman hit by lorry in Upper Thomson in 2014 had 4 brain operations When a lorry struck Mdm Lim Giok in July 2014, the then-66-year-old suffered a severe brain injury that required four operations over several months. Doctors removed a portion of her skull to relieve pressure on her brain, but repeated complications set back her recovery each time, leaving her partially immobile and dependent on others for daily activities. Through years of daily exercise and sheer determination, Lim was eventually able to walk on her own by 2018, though she still experiences memory gaps and requires constant assistance.

Patient Care Surgeons perform first brain tumour removal through eye socket in Singapore A team of surgeons from National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) removed a 2.5cm brain tumour through a patient’s eye socket. The eight-hour surgery harnessed the transorbital neuroendoscopic surgery (TONES) technique used for the first time here to remove a tumour.
